What is the 40-Hour Training?

The Domestic Violence 40-hour training provides participants with the movement’s philosophical and political framework and a solid foundation for supporting folks who experience violence. In order for confidential communication to be protected, the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) requires that individuals working directly with survivors have a minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence training.  Our training fulfills this requirement.  The 40-hour training at Between Friends also fulfills the requirements to become an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP).

When will the training happen?

Please note: All training days need to be attended in order for participants to receive a certificate.  If you recognize that a participant will need to miss any portion of this training please find another training opportunity for them by clicking here.

Training Day 1 (In-Person at Galter Life Center):
Wednesday- August 6, 2025 | 9:30am-4:00pm

Training Day 2 (via Zoom):
Thursday- August 7, 2025 | 2:30pm-5:00pm

Training Day 3 (In-Person at Galter Life Center):
Friday- August 8, 2025 | 9:30am-4:00pm

Training Day 4 (In-Person at Galter Life Center):
Saturday- August 9, 2025 | 9:30am-4:00pm

Training Day 5 (via Zoom):
Monday- August 11, 2025 | 9:00am-11:30am and 2:30pm-5:00pm

Training Day 6 (via Zoom):
Tuesday- August 12, 2025 | 9:00am-11:30am and 2:30pm-5:00pm

Training Day 7 (via Zoom):
Wednesday- August 13, 2025 | 9:00am-11:30am and 2:30pm-5:00pm
