ICDVP would like to provide an update regarding the requirements for the 40-hour training standards, specifically the 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training. At the beginning of 2022, ICDVP emailed all 40-hour certified training sites options regarding the ability to begin providing the training in 2 different modalities: a 20-hour module/20-hour in-person training and a 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training. ICDVP offered that all current certified 40-hour training sites could apply to add one or both new formats to their training site certificate. The options were for sites to apply to have up to 3 different modalities in which to provide the 40-hour training standards.
ICDVP standards remain that at least 20-hours of the ICDVP certified 40-hour domestic violence training must be in person with the training towards CDVP/CPAIP Certification following one of three formats for 40-hour training:
- 40 hours all in person
- 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person
- 20-hour module/20-hour in-person
ICDVP was recently contacted by a certified 40-hour training site that made an error in providing a 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training which they were not certified to provide. They were certified to provide the 40-hour in-person and 20-hour module/20-hour in-person training. In reviewing previous communications from ICDVP and the situation at the agency that led to this error, ICDVP has decided to re-issue the option to all current 40-hour training sites to apply for either of the 2 different modalities and to add a retroactive clause. ICDVP acknowledges that communication of the new formats may have been confusing as there were quite a few updates for sites to follow over the past couple of years.
We are reaching out to all ICDVP certified 40-hour domestic violence training sites to offer the following application process regarding becoming a 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training site.
- If an agency does not wish to add the alternative training modality to their certification, or they have already been approved to provide this training format, then there is nothing that needs to be completed at this time.
- If an agency that holds a current 40-hour training certificate would like to become a 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training site, the following items will need to be submitted to ICDVP.
- Completed ICDVP Form 2A along with required documentation.
- ICDVP Form 11B for Virtual Training
RETROACTIVE CLAUSE: If your ICDVP certified 40-hour training site has offered the 40-hour training in a virtual/in-person modality since 01/04/22 and would like to apply to be retroactively approved as a 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training site, the following items must be submitted:
- Proof that the previous training met the ICDVP standards for 20-hour virtual/20-hour in-person training.
- Completed ICDVP Form 2A along with required documentation.
- ICDVP Form 11B for Virtual Training
If the application is approved, then individuals who were trained utilizing this format since 01/04/2022 can utilize their training towards CDVP/CPAIP Certification.
This offer does not apply to sites that did not renew their 40-hour training site certification or have had their site certification revoked.
The deadline to take advantage of this opportunity is 03/31/24. Once received, the items must be approved by ICDVP.
