What is a 40-hour training?
The Domestic Violence 40-hour training provides participants with the movement’s philosophical and political framework and a solid foundation for supporting folks who experience violence.
What is the 40-hour requirement?
In order for confidential communication to be protected, the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) requires that individuals working directly with domestic violence survivors have a minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence training. This training fulfills this requirement.
What about certification?
Completing 40 hours of domestic violence training is the first step toward becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP). Between Friends is an ICDVP approved training and supervision site. For more information on becoming a Certified Domestic Violence Professional go to http://www.ilcdvp.org.
What does the training cover?
Dynamics of DV | Empowerment Counseling | Criminal and Civil Legal Issues | Safety Planning | Risk Assessment | Confidentiality | Teen Dating Violence | Impact of DV on Children | Introduction to Partner Abuse Intervention Strategies | Connection to Mental Health and Substance Abuse | Dynamics within LGBTQ Communities | Building an Anti-Oppression Framework | Elder Abuse | Supporting People with Disabilities | Self and Community Care | And more!

Please visit http://www.ilcdvp.org/approvedsites/training_calendar.html to find another 40-hour training opportunity.
What about the make-up sessions?
If any of our in-person sessions need to be cancelled, or if any in-person time is missed by individuals during the training, this content will need to be made up in person. Please save these dates on your calendar (April 25 and April 26) to make up missed content as needed. These are the only days make-up sessions will be offered, so keep them open just in case.
