Ones’ culture\nand geographical location can significantly impact these views.\nStigma also has a major effect on one’s view and likelihood of seeking\ntreatment. SUMMARY:Between Friends 40-Hour DV Training
DESCRIPTION:The Domestic Violence 40-hour training provides participants with the movement’s philosophical and political framework and a solid foundation for supporting folks who experience violence. \nIn order for confidential communication to be protected\, the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) requires that individuals working directly with domestic violence survivors have a minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence training. This training fulfills this requirement. \nCompleting 40 hours of domestic violence training is the first step toward becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP). Between Friends is an ICDVP approved training and supervision site. \nThe training will cover:\nDynamics of DV | Empowerment Counseling | Criminal and Civil Legal Issues | Safety Planning | Risk Assessment | Confidentiality | Teen Dating Violence | Impact of DV on Children | Introduction to Partner Abuse Intervention Strategies | Connection to Mental Health and Substance Abuse | Dynamics within LGBTQ Communities | Building an Anti-Oppression Framework | Elder Abuse | Supporting People with Disabilities | Self and Community Care | And more! \nThe following eight sessions during the Winter of 2023 (all sessions must be attended in order to receive a certificate): \nSession Dates: 11/16/23\, 11/17/23\, 11/20/23\, 11/21/23\, 11/27/23\, 11/29/23\, 12/01/23\, 12/02/23 \nAll Sessions are in-person from 9:30am-3:45pm at Apna Ghar (4350 N.
