SUMMARY:Between Friends 40-Hour DV Training
DESCRIPTION:What is a 40-hour training? \nThe Domestic Violence 40-hour training provides participants with the movement’s philosophical and political framework and a solid foundation for supporting folks who experience violence. \nWhat is the 40-hour requirement? \nIn order for confidential communication to be protected\, the Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) requires that individuals working directly with domestic violence survivors have a minimum of 40 hours of domestic violence training. This training fulfills this requirement. \nWhat about certification? \nCompleting 40 hours of domestic violence training is the first step toward becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP). Between Friends is an ICDVP approved training and supervision site. For more information on becoming a Certified Domestic Violence Professional go to http://www.ilcdvp.org. \nWhat does the training cover? \nDynamics of DV | Empowerment Counseling | Criminal and Civil Legal Issues | Safety Planning | Risk Assessment | Confidentiality | Teen Dating Violence | Impact of DV on Children | Introduction to Partner Abuse Intervention Strategies | Connection to Mental Health and Substance Abuse | Dynamics within LGBTQ Communities | Building an Anti-Oppression Framework | Elder Abuse | Supporting People with Disabilities | Self and Community Care | And more! \nWhen will the training happen? \nThe following ten sessions during the spring of 2024 (all sessions must be attended in order to receive a certificate): \nApril 4: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm\nApril 5: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm\nApril 8: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 9: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 11: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 12: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm\nApril 15: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 16: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 18: Virtual Session: 10am-2pm\nApril 19: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm \n*SAVE THESE DATES for possible make-up sessions (in case of group cancellation or absence):\nApril 25: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm\nApril 26: In-Person Session: 9:30am-3:45pm \nDo I need to attend all 10 sessions? \nIf you would like to receive a certificate you will need to be present at all of the sessions. Please do not sign up for this training if you know you will need to miss any portion of it. Please visit http://www.ilcdvp.org/approvedsites/training_calendar.html to find another 40-hour training opportunity. \nWhat about the make-up sessions? \nIf any of our in-person sessions need to be cancelled\, or if any in-person time is missed by individuals during the training\, this content will need to be made up in person. Please save these dates on your calendar (April 25 and April 26) to make up missed content as needed. These are the only days make-up sessions will be offered\, so keep them open just in case. \nWhere will the training happen? \nAll virtual sessions will be conducted live\, via zoom\, and participants will need access to a camera for full participation – please contact Susan at spieters@betweenfriendschicago.org if you need a device or wifi access in order to participate on camera. All in-person sessions will be held at Impact House (200 W. Madison Street\, Chicago). \nHow much does the training cost? \nThe training is $255 for a single participant or $200 per participant for organizations sending more than one person. \nHave more questions? \nNo problem! If you have more questions about the training\, you can reach out to Zury at zuryr@betweenfriendschicago.org or (312) 775-2158.
